This photo was taken for the Patterns and Textures assignment.
What I like about this photo is it not only shows the texture of the rusty lock but it also shows the texture of the wooden door. My point of view was slightly above and diagonal to the subject. The photo does not follows the rule of thirds because the lock is directly in the center of the photo. The depth of field is a shallow depth of field because the lock is in focus but the part of the door that is to the right of the lock is not. The ISO was set to 400 and the White Balance was set on cloudy because it was raining outside. |
I selected this photo because it's one of my favorites out of all of the photos I've taken. Compositionally, the point of view is above her because when this photo was take I was standing on a stump looking down at her. Her face becomes the focal point of the photo because it's framed by the color contrast of her hair and clothes. The lSO used to take the photo was 100 because it was very sunny out and the white balance was set on daylight. I used a shutter speed of around 1/100 because her hair is blowing in the wind but not blurry.

This photo was taken for the aperture assignment. Compositionally, there is a shallow depth of field with about a f 1.8 What I like about this photo is its a great representation of a shallow depth of field. My point of view was right against the wall so I could focus on the texture of the bricks. The photo follows the rule of thirds because the focus isn't directly in the center of the photo but slightly off to the right. The ISO was set to about 400 and the White Balance was set on Cloudy. |
I selected this photo because it is one of my most visually pleasing photos. Compositionally, there is a shallow depth of field because the entire photo is focused on her hand in the foreground. Also the rule of thirds is used because the focus of the photo is towards the bottom and not in the middle. To take this photo I had the camera's White balance set on fluorescent because we were inside and its ISO on about 800. I also had a fast shutter speed of about 1/100 because she couldn't stay in the position she was in for a long period of time.

This photo was taken for the Pattern and Texture unit. Compositionally, there is texture shown through the rust on the bolt and the wood behind it. There is also the rule of thirds because the top right screw lands on a rule of thirds line as does the nail in the bottom left. To take the photo I had the camera's ISO was set to 400 and the White Balance was set on cloudy because it was raining outside. When taking this photo I was super close to the bolt and took the photo slightly towards the right side of it. I changed this photo into black and white to help focus on the texture of the rust rather than the colors of it.

Looking at this photo, the compositional elements that are most apparent are Pattern and Texture. The focal point of the photo is the pine cone and the pine leaves sticking out to the edges of the picture help to lead your eye throughout the photo. When I edited this photo, I adjusted some of the shadows through dodging and burning to help all of the individual sections on the pinecone stand out. The camera was set to an ISO of 200 and a white balance of daylight because it was extremely sunny out that day. This photo makes me think of the initial excitement I had for this class because it was one of the first times id held an actual camera and this was one of the first picture I had taken .
